CHERRY HILL– Rowan women’s soccer player Jess Babice was honored at the 106th Philadelphia Sports Writers Association Dinner on February 1 at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Cherry Hill. Babice was honored along with a number of standouts in both professional and amateur sports including Philadelphia Eagles tight end Brent Celek and Philadelphia Phillies manager Charlie Manuel.

 

A forward, Babice was the Rowan’s leading scorer with 50 points. She scored 22 goals and had six assists. In the conference, Babice ranked first in game-winning goals (8) and second in goals (22), goals per game (1.16) and points per game (2.63). She was also third in points (50), tied for ninth in assists (6) and 11th in assists per game (0.32). In the NCAA Division III statistics, Babice was 16th (1.158) and 17th (2.63) in goals and points per game respectively. 

 

Babice was named to the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) Division III All-America third team. She advanced to the national ballot after her selection to the NSCAA South Atlantic All-Region first team. In the fall, Babice was chosen the New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) and Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Metro Offensive Player of the Year. She also was a member of the NJAC All-Conference and ECAC Metro All-Star first teams. 

 

A captain, Babice was tabbed for the Philadelphia Inquirer Women’s Soccer Academic All-Area Team and was the Academic Women’s Soccer Performer of the Year. She was named to the College Sports Information Directors of America/ESPN The Magazine Academic All-America second team and the All-District II first team.
