TCNJ MEN AND WOMEN TAKE NJAC TEAM TITLES
The College of New Jersey won the men's and women's outdoor track and field titles at the 2001 New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) Championships on Saturday, May 5.  The men compiled 242 points in the eight team field while the women had 224 with nine teams competing.  It was the women's 18th overall NJAC crown and ninth straight.  The men have won four consecutive NJAC titles and 10 overall.

AWARD WINNERS
William Paterson University's Kenneisha Reid (fr. P.C.T./Paterson, NJ) and Robert Hargrove (jr. Vineland/Vineland, NJ) were the Thomas Gerrity Award winners for the Most Outstanding Female and Male Athlete respectively.  Reid won the long jump (16'3 3/4", 4.97m) and triple jump (36'3", 11.05m) and was a member of two first place relays: the 4x100 (48.96) and 4x400 (4:06.91).  The 4x100 relay set a new meet record, previously held by Rowan in 1992 (49.00).  Hargrove took first in the 100 (10.72) and 200 meter (21.29) events.  His 200 meter time broke a 23 year old mark held by Rowan University's Joe Taylor in 1978 (21.44).

New Jersey City University's Diana Lawson (fr. Queen of Peace/Union, NJ) was the Outstanding Female Track Athlete.  Lawson won the 200 (25.09) and 400 meters (57.39).  Her 200 meter time broke the conference meet mark of 25.09 held by Sharon Kearnes of Montclair State (25.24).  Rutgers-Camden's Matt Collins (so. Bishop Eustace/Gibbstown, NJ) was named the Outstanding Male Track Athlete.  Collins finished first in the 110 meter hurdles with a time of 14.84.

Rowan University's Kathy Darling (so. Monmouth Reg./Tinton Falls, NJ) was selected the Outstanding Male Field Athlete with a first place in the shot put (52'8 1/4", 16.06m).

The women's Coach of the Year was Horace Perkins of William Paterson University while the men's Coach of the Year was Rutgers-Camden's Jon Jenkins.
