TRACK ATHLETE OF THE WEEK
Stephanie Herrick, The College of New Jersey Sophomore Wayne, NJ/Wayne Valley
Herrick earns the final NJAC Women’s Outdoor Track Athlete of the Week honor, her second of the season, after capturing All-American honors at the NCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field Championships hosted by the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh. She placed fifth in a field of 18 competitors in the 800 meters with a time of 2:11.00. Herrick also was a member of the Lions’ 4x400 meter relay team that finished 10th in a 16-team field and just missed qualifying for the final with a preliminary mark of 3:53.73. Herrick’s selection marked the seventh time in 10 weeks during the Outdoor season that a Lion runner garnered Track Athlete of the Week honors.
FIELD ATHLETE OF THE WEEK
Lisa Shepherd, Richard Stockton College Freshman Mays Landing, NJ/Oakcrest
Shepherd earns the final NJAC Women’s Outdoor Field Athlete of the Week honor after capturing All-American honors at the NCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field Championships hosted by the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh. A three-time NJAC Rookie of the Week selection, she placed eighth in a field of 16 competitors in the high jump with a leap of 1.64 meters. Shepherd’s selection marked the ninth time in 10 weeks during the Outdoor season that an Osprey garnered Field Athlete of the Week honors.
ROOKIE OF THE WEEK
Jianna Spadaccini, The College of New Jersey Freshman Butler, NJ/Butler
Spadaccini earns the final NJAC Women’s Outdoor Rookie of the Week selection after competing at the NCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field Championships hosted by the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh. She was a member of the Lions’ 4x400 meter relay which placed 10th overall in a 16-team field with a preliminary time of 3:55.73. With her selection, Spadaccini became the third different Lion to earn NJAC Rookie honors during the 2007 Outdoor season.
