PLAYER OF THE WEEK - WEEK 2

Kate Schrumpf, Rutgers University-Newark
Sophomore, Infielder, Upper Montclair, NJ/Mt. St. Dominic's

Schrumpf earns NJAC Player of the Week honors after hitting .607 during the Scarlet Raiders spring trip to Myrtle Beach, SC. In nine games combined, she went 17-for-28 with five doubles, one triple, and six RBI. During the trip, she recorded five multiple-hit games including a 4-for-4 performance against Oswego State and a 3-for-3 performance against Utica. Schrumpf finished the trip with a .857 slugging percentage and a .586 on-base percentage. The Scarlet Raiders, 5-4 overall, return to action on March 23 when they host USMMA-Kings Point in a doubleheader.   

PITCHER OF THE WEEK - WEEK 2

Crystal Sweeney, Montclair State University
Junior, Pitcher, Edison, NJ/Edison

Sweeney earns NJAC Pitcher honors after going a combined 6-1 with one save in eight  appearances during the Red Hawks spring trip to Fort Myers, FL. She recorded victories over Western New England, Fontbonne, Cazenovia, Southern Maine, Defiance and Framingham State while logging 42.2 innings in the eight games combined. During the trip, she surrendered just 26 hits, including only two extra-base hits, while striking out 39. Sweeney is currently 6-1 overall with a 0.33 earned run average. The Red Hawks, 9-1 overall, return to action on March 25 when they host Rensselaer in a doubleheader at the new Montclair State Softball Stadium.

ROOKIE PLAYER OF THE WEEK - WEEK 2

Liz Sisca, William Paterson University
Freshman, Outfielder, Andover, NJ/Newton

Sisca earns NJAC Rookie honors after hitting .577 during the Pioneers spring trip to Osceola, FL. In eight games combined, she went 15-for-26 with three doubles, three triples, and nine RBI. During the trip, she recorded five multiple-hit games including 3-for-3 performances against Macalester (MN) and Concordia (WI). Sisca currently leads William Paterson in batting average, RBI, doubles, triples and total bases. The Pioneers, 7-1 overall, return to action on March 24 when they travel to Wilkes for a doubleheader. 

ROOKIE PITCHER OF THE WEEK - WEEK 2

Marissa Marino, Ramapo College
Freshman, Pitcher, Wayne, NJ/Wayne

Marino has posted a 1-0 record in three appearances for the Roadrunners at the Rebel Spring Games in Osceola, FL. She recorded her first collegiate victory during the trip when the Roadrunners earned a 2-1 win over Geneva. After a four-inning scoreless relief appearance in a loss to St. Thomas, she earned a no-decision against the Tommies by pitching six innings of Ramapo's 5-4 extra-inning win over St. Thomas. Marino has posted a 1-0 overall record with a 2.00 earned run average. The Roadrunners, 5-1 overall, return to action on March 23 in Florida when they face DePaul and Calvin.
