PLAYER OF THE WEEK  

 

Ellen Seavers, The College of New Jersey
Sophomore, Shortstop
Ridgewood, NJ/Ridgewood

Seavers earns NJAC Player of the Week honors for the second time this season after hitting .647 (11-for-17) with four doubles, six RBI, and six runs scored in a 3-1 week of conference play for the Lions. She registered two-or-more hits in each contest, while notching an extra base hit in 3-of-4 games during the week. In a 13-1 and 11-1 NJAC road doubleheader sweep at Rutgers-Newark, she went a combined 5-for-9 with two doubles, four RBI, and five runs scored. She wrapped up her regular season by going a combined 6-for-8 with two doubles, two RBI, and a run scored in a NJAC doubleheader split with William Paterson. Seavers currently ranks third in the conference in total hits with 52 on the season.

PITCHER OF THE WEEK  

Carolyn McCrea, Montclair State University
Senior, Right-handed Pitcher
Wharton, NJ/Jefferson

McCrea earns NJAC Pitcher of the Week honors for the second time this season after playing a key role in MSU’s clinching of its second consecutive NJAC regular season championship. She opened the week by surrendering just seven hits and one walk while striking out four in a 7-0 complete-game win over NJAC rival William Paterson. She wrapped up her regular season by claiming her 19th victory of the season while helping the Red Hawks finish with a perfect 18-0 league mark after scattering six hits while striking out five in a 2-1 NJAC win over Rowan. McCrea currently leads the NJAC in earned run average (0.82).

ROOKIE OF THE WEEK  

Leslie Gonzalez, Montclair State University
Freshman, Outfielder
North Bergen, NJ/North Bergen

Gonzalez becomes the second different Red Hawk to earn NJAC Rookie of the Week honors after hitting .750 (9-for-12) with five RBI and two runs scored in a 4-0 week for Montclair State. She opened the week by going a combined 5-for-6 with a RBI and a stolen base in MSU’s 7-0 and 8-7 NJAC road doubleheader sweep at William Paterson. She wrapped up the regular season by going a combined 4-for-6 with a double, three RBI and a run scored in the Red Hawks’ 2-1 and 6-5 NJAC doubleheader sweep of Rowan which wrapped up an undefeated NJAC regular season. Gonzalez currently ranks fourth in the NJAC in hitting with a .404 batting average.

ROOKIE PITCHER OF THE WEEK  

Alex Sietsma, The College of New Jersey
Freshman, Right-handed Pitcher
Glen Rock, NJ/Glen Rock

Sietsma earns NJAC Rookie Pitcher of the Week honors for the third time this season after going 2-0 with a 0.58 earned run average in two games pitched for the Lions. She first surrendered just four hits and one earned run while striking out six in an 11-1 NJAC road win at Rutgers-Newark. She wrapped up her regular season by allowing just two hits in seven innings of work while striking out six for a complete-game victory in TCNJ’s 6-0 NJAC shutout of William Paterson. Sietsma currently ranks seventh in the NJAC in opposing batting average (.191).
