TCNJ CONCLUDES SWIM SEASON IN HIGH STYLE
AT NCAA MEET

The College of New Jersey’s women's swimming and diving team wrapped up competition at the 2002 NCAA Division III Women's Swimming and Diving Championships on Saturday night. TCNJ produced another All-American at the championships and finished in 25th place with 31.5 points.

On Saturday, TCNJ had three competitors were in action as sophomore diver, Kristen Simms (Mt. Holly, NJ/Rancocas Valley Regional), sophomore fly specialist Allyson Hafner (Cinnaminson, NJ/Cinnaminson), and sophomore Aubrey Horvath (Hillsborough, NJ/Hillsborough) competed.

After earning All-America honors on Thursday night in the one meter diving competition, Simms also excelled for the Lions in the three-meter event. After finishing the first day of competition in the three-meter event with a score of 418.15, she entered Saturday's evening session seeded third. By meet's end, she had racked up her fourth career All-America citation after taking fourth place in the three-meter event with a final score of 424.70. At last year’s NCAA's, she finished in 10th place in the three-meter event. Thus far on her young career, she has picked up back-to-back fifth place finishes in the one meter event and is now a four-time All-American.

Horvath swam in the 100 freestyle event, where she posted a time of 53.06 to finish 17th in the trials and was the first alternate entering the championships, but did not get a chance to compete. On Thursday night, she picked up her first career All-America citation after tying for 14th place with a time of 24.36 in the 50 freestyle.  Hafner competed in the 200 butterfly event where she posted a time of 2:11.09, but did not advance to the evening championship session.
