Shears opened her junior season by tallying 71 kills and 20 aces during a 3-1 week for William Paterson. She notched double-digit kill totals in all four matches, including a 20-kill, nine-ace, eight-dig performance in the Pioneers' 3-1 victory over St. Joseph's-Patchogue. Later in the same day, she notched kill totals of 16 and 20 in matches against Centenary and Stevens Tech respectively. Through four matches, Shears has recorded a total attack percentage of .424.

Figueroa opened her collegiate career by tallying 14 kills in the Scarlet Raptors' 3-2 season-opening victory over UC-Santa Cruz. In addition, she notched 18 digs, four total blocks, and two aces as  Newark rallied for its first victory of the season.
