Cintron earns NJAC Player of the Week honors for the
seventh time this season and the second consecutive week after averaging
8.14 kills and 4.00 digs per game while leading the Gothic Knights to
their third consecutive NJAC Championship Match. In NJCU’s NJAC Tournament
semifinal win over fourth-seeded Ramapo, she registered 25 kills, eight
digs, and three blocks as the Knights advanced with a 3-0 victory. In the
NJAC Championship Match, she posted a double-double 32 kills, 20 digs, and
six blocks in a 3-1 loss to Montclair State. As NJAC regular season
champions, the Gothic Knights earned their second straight selection to
the ECAC Division III South Tournament. Second-seeded NJCU will host
seventh-seeded NYU in a first round match on November 7. Cintron, who
currently ranks fifth all-time on the combined NCAA Divisions I, II, and
III career kills list with 2,875, currently leads the NJAC in hitting
percentage (.432), kills per game (6.09), blocks per game (1.19), and
points per game (7.37). |

Johnston earns NJAC Rookie of the Week honors for the
third time this season after leading the third-seeded Red Hawks to the
NJAC Championship with three tournament victories in the span of five
days. She opened the tournament with a double-double 13 kills and 13 digs
in MSU’s 3-0 first round victory over sixth-seeded William Paterson. Two
days later, she notched eight kills, 10 digs, and three aces in MSU’s 3-2
NJAC road win over second-seeded Richard Stockton which marked the Red
Hawks first win in program history over the Ospreys. Two days later, she
collected eight kills and 24 digs in a 3-1 NJAC Championship Match victory
over top-seeded NJCU which snapped the Gothic Knights’ 43-match home court
winning streak. As champions of the NJAC, Montclair State will travel to
Stevens to face Nazareth in the opening round of the NCAA Division III
National Championship Tournament on November 8. Johnston currently ranks
eighth in the NJAC in points per game (3.55). |
