Asia Johnson, William Paterson University Junior, Forward Wildwood, NJ/Wildwood
Johnson earns NJAC Player of the Week honors for the third time this season after averaging a double-double 24.0 points and 16.5 rebounds per game in a 2-0 week of conference play for the Pioneers. She first tallied a double-double 22 points and 13 rebounds while adding three blocks and four steals in a 75-57 win over Ramapo which clinched the North Division Championship for William Paterson. She then wrapped up her regular season with career-highs of 26 points and 20 rebounds, while adding four blocks and three steals in a 65-60 overtime NJAC road win at Rutgers-Newark which secured home court advantage for the Pioneers throughout the NJAC Tournament. Johnson, who shot 10-of-13 from the field in the win over Ramapo, currently ranks second in the NJAC in both rebounding (11.3 per game), and blocked shots (3.67 per game).
ROOKIE OF THE WEEK
Angela Fitzgerald, New Jersey City University Freshman, Guard Jersey City, NJ/Marist
Fitzgerald earns NJAC Rookie of the Week honors for the fifth time this season after wrapping up her freshman season with a contest at Montclair State. In the Gothic Knights only game of the week, she netted a team-high 12 points, along with eight rebounds, three assists, and two steals in NJCU’s 61-49 loss to the Red Hawks. In 35 minutes of action, she shot .455 from the field (5-of-11). Fitzgerald currently leads the NJAC in minutes played with an average of 34:16 per game.
