Shtemberg earns NJAC Player of the Week honors after
capturing the ITA Northeast Singles and Doubles Championships for
the second consecutive year. She opened the week by tallying a 6-0, 6-0
win at first singles, while teaming with Christina Contrafatto for an 8-3
victory at first doubles in the Lions’ 9-0 NJAC road win at Richard
Stockton. She then traveled to William Smith College in Geneva, NY where
she captured the ITA Northeast Singles crown by not losing a single set
during a 6-0 tournament run over the course of three days. She also teamed
with Contrafatto for a perfect 5-0 tournament doubles record as the tandem
captured their second consecutive ITA Northeast Doubles title. With a pair
of Regional championships, Shtemberg will now travel to Alabama to compete
in the ITA National Singles and Doubles Championships in mid-October.

Berg earns NJAC Rookie of the Week honors after
competing at the ITA Northeast Regionals at William Smith College in
Geneva, NY. Prior to her play at the ITA Regionals, she posted a 6-1, 6-0
win at second singles and teamed with Stefanie Haar for an 8-3 win at
second doubles in the Lions’ 9-0 NJAC road win at Richard Stockton. Seeded
No. 2 in the ITA Northeast Singles Tournament, she went 4-1 and advanced
to the Regional semifinals. Berg also teamed with Haar to produce a 4-1
record in ITA Regional doubles play, eventually falling to teammates
Jackie Shtemberg and Christina Contrafatto in the Regional championship
match. |
